I’ve always been passionate about the environment but the growing severity of the climate change emergency that we’ve seen over the past couple of years is what galvanised me to set up Oak Tree. Through the work we do at the centre I hope to help grow the environmental movement in West Yorkshire and play a significant role in the region’s journey towards zero carbon and a truly green future.

I’m proud to be part of the team at Oak Tree. I’m inspired by the work we are doing and the fact that I get to meet and engage with so many people who are doing their bit to create a better future for us and generations to come. I am passionate about sustainable living and reducing our personal and collective impact on the planet, and I want to spread the word about the changes, big and small, that we can all make to reduce our carbon footprint.

Tackling environmental issues has always been important to me, and so I joined Oak Tree to help them raise awareness of issues affecting the local community. My day job is working as the Office Manager and Sustainability Ambassador for a wedding venue, and I hope that my knowledge and experience there will bring more ideas to the table in how we can help our planet.

I volunteer with the Oak Tree Sustainable Living Centre around community engagement. The world right now can feel scary as the effects of the climate crisis are starting to be felt and climate change can no longer be ignored. It can feel like we are powerless to change, but we can. We just need to get started and take one step at a time. I am passionate about sharing simple and exciting ways individuals, communities and businesses can make small changes to improve our future.

I joined Oak Tree because I really love everything that they stand for, and wanted to get involved in something that is helping to make a difference. I think sometimes it can be difficult to know how you can make changes to improve your environmental impact, and so by working at Oak Tree I want to help share information with others, as well as trying to learn new things myself!

I am currently studying at the University of Leeds. I am passionate about tackling the current environmental issues caused by fast fashion and am using my role at Oak Tree to research ways to do this. I joined Oak Tree in November 2020 and bring critical thinking and creativity to the work I do here.

I am really passionate about being environmentally friendly and being involved in my Junior Leadership Team at my high school. I joined Oak Tree because I want to make a difference and do as many things as possible to be environmentally friendly in my community. As part of the JLT I helped get recycling bins into our school and will be doing much more there to be environmentally friendly in the future.

I currently study MSc International Development: Environment, Climate Change and Development at the University of Manchester. I want to use the academic skills I have learned during my MSc and apply them to facilitating tangible change, both globally and locally. I joined Oak Tree because I believe it is doing important work in raising awareness and taking action on social justice and climate change issues.

I recently graduated in International Relations and have since relocated from Italy to Leeds.  I believe raising awareness of environmental issues is critical to saving our planet and I hope my social media skills can contribute to this. I started volunteering for Oak Tree because I care greatly about the environment and believe if each individual takes action, we can protect our planet.
